My son enjoyed his party, his guests enjoyed the pizza and I had no mess to clean up. :)
So why did I stress so much. I created the stress. I received an email today from Paula Eder, PhD about distinguishing planning from worrying.
She suggested weeding out worrying by asking ... Do I:
* Decide and implement - or perseverate on minor details?
* Plan for possible consequences - or sweat the 'What if's'?
* Accept my best effort - or punish myself if I fall short?
In regard to the party I did sort do both, except for the last question.
I planned the party and for the minor details I made a list.
I analyzed the needs, so the what if's were covered.
I did my best.
I responded to a blog with the following:
What keeps me going is my GOAL.
"What do I truly want."
Having that defined directs my actions no matter what comes my way. Speed bumps do not matter as I am doing what I need to do for me for my goal.
It is like being kind or mean. It is a choice, we choose what we want.
My goal for the party was for my son and his friends enjoy themselves. I would say:
Now to keep applying this to creating a healthy sustainable lifestyle.
