I hate to admit, but I think I like this running thing.

Monday, April 22, 2013

I got up at 4:15 AM to run. I thought to myself that this is true insanity! However I got up, put on my shoes and was out the door. I followed my normal route and at one point I thought that I needed to add some more distance as this wasn't as hard as I thought it should be. CRAZY thought for me! I wasn't sucking air like I thought I "should" so maybe that means I need to push faster or go farther.

I ran with my oldest yesterday and she was more winded than I was. I think it's because she is a soccer player and they do more sprints and turns. She stated that she can't wait until the season is over so she can start running longer distances. It was cute as she kept asking if I was ok when she seemed like she was the one struggling. (She is playing sometimes two games a day to make up for all the cancellations earlier in the season.)

Thank you for all the advice about running. I still need to get running shoes, but my current pair are holding up ok. The advice about walking up hills has really helped!! I've already improved my time. I am experiencing some lower back aggravation. I think it may be because I am holding my abs in pretty tight. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the warm welcome into the "running club." emoticon

Wow! I am totally not a runner. I tried it but it just doesn't suit me. I always admire the determination of those who can do it. Good for you!

Considering the fact that you owned Insanity, I'm not surprised you're adapting well. Your cardio system will adapt faster to the change. Your musculo-skeletal system, the bones, muscles and connective tissue, take a bit longer. Insure your posture is upright. I had a tendency to lean forward from the waist up which puts more pressure on the lower back. As with anything, your body will adapt. I'm sure you will embrace your run, MJ!
