Another day in the driver's seat on the CanAm Spyder Roadster Motorcycle.

Sunday, April 21, 2013

Busy day started with a biker Sunday service at a church south of here. Then went to lunch with 15 of our CMA friends. After church we went to the high school my my riding the CanAm by myself. After some turns around light polls in high school parking lot I started going out into the street and driving to other the other middle school parking lot. Today there was someone who pulled into the middle school parking lot and made me a little edgy for some reason. I got back out into the street and got into 3rd gear going back to the other parking lot where my husband was. I realized today that I need to get better acquainted with some of things I must know. My mind went blank on where my turn signal button was and how to go to neutral after I parked.

It is sort of like we know what we need to do to get fit with exercise and eating right be we need to go over some of the steps to refresh our minds about what is best to do.

How fun (well, the fun part of it) !! !! ! Great memory flashbacks for me!!! It was 3 years ago that my hubby set up an 'obstacle course' for me to learn to drive our first CanAm (the RT touring model) in a parking lot . . . . used water bottles for barriers to drive around.

I've had my own CanAm RS (sport model) since that time and love it more every time I ride it. Yesterday, coming back from a 5 hour ride, we were on the freeway, passing semi's while fighting a strong side wind . . . and it brought back memories of how terrified I had been back 3 years ago . . . I hated freeway riding.

Keep it up. Be mindful everytime you get in the drivers seat. Spend a lot of time practicing in vacant parking lots and along back roads.

Take it easy, relax, and don't push yourself. It will seem like work for a while, but before long, you'll get the hang of it.

Watch out for the deer, the squirrels . . . and the nuts.
