A furry, white problem...

Sunday, April 21, 2013

I got woken up at 4 am this morning. Dh was waking me to tell me he found a lost cat in the hallway, and brought it in here to keep it safe while he hung up signs to see if someone claims it. He said he wanted me to know so that if someone knocked on the door, I wouldn't freak out. It was, of course, necessary to get up and go meet the kitty. I was shocked to find it looked exactly like a smaller version of my cat. It was incredibly lovey and sweet. I couldn't resist petting it for a while when dh was fixing it's bowls of food and water and a small litter box for the bedroom.

We were sure someone would have claimed it by now. It's now nearly 2 pm, and no one has knocked on the door. I'm starting to get concerned that someone intentionally put it in the hall, knowing someone would take it in because it's so friendly. If it were up to me, I'd be hoping no one claims it so we can keep it. Alas... we are only allowed to have 2 animals, and we already have 2. So if no one claims it, we're going to have to list it on Craigslist. And if no one wants it from Craigslist, we're going to have to take it to a shelter. I will be absolutely broken hearted if we have to take it to a shelter. We will keep it for at least 2 weeks before we do anything, if no one comes. But everyone, please cross your fingers that it's owners come and take the sweet thing!

Other than that, today is going well. I ate breakfast at 4 am when dh woke me up to tell me about the kitty. I figured that was not a good sign for the day. But I've managed to only have a small snack since then, and I will be eating lunch soon. I'm trying a new recipe from SP. I'll post a link to it after we eat and share how it turned out.

My back seems to be a lot better, too. I had only a little pain when I was in the kitchen getting the food ready to go in the oven. A vast improvement over the past few days.

And, because kitchen appliances seem to hate me... my food scale is broken. I left it sitting on the stove when the oven was on and it melted. So, after we eat it will be off to the store to find a new scale. I'll try not to melt this one.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

Edited to add: The kids that own the kitty came and picked him up. They looked so happy to see him. emoticon

Glad the kids got their kitty back. Also very glad to hear your back is feeling better! Maybe needing a new food scale is a good thing. I don't know how your store is but everytime I look at them at our little local store they always seem to have a newer better one that what I have.

I am SO glad the kids came to get their kitty! It's really nice when people actually WANT their animals and are sad they're gone. So many people just throw them away without a second thought.

Please don't list the animal on Craig's List! So often people get animals from there to use as bait animals because there is no way to check their backround. At least with a shelter, people have to go through a process to adopt.

I really hope that the owers come forward and claim the kitty.
