Baby Steps in the Right Direction

It has been a super long time since I have explored this page, much less cared about eating right. I am not over weight and have been inundated by emails for healthy eating and living. Since I am not over weight, I have had the mentality that I don't need to watch what I eat because I do not need to lose weight. However, I have come to learn that unhealthy eating habits can destroy one's body's natural ability to function properly. It is like continually dipping a paintbrush in glue without ever washing it. The glue begins to harden and collect on the bristles. Before too long, the bristles are so stiff they are unable to function as they could when they were new. One's body has to work harder. Well, anyway, you get the point. Unhealthy eating is bad. Excuse me for a moment while I step down off that soap box.
I made the decision to start making my own meals and eating out less around last September. I worked a perfect schedule for being able to cook a weeks worth of meals over the course of three days. I had low ambition to actually do anything but relax or clean on my off days and was good for a couple of weeks at planning meals and preparing them. I soon fell into the eat out habit again. I changed jobs and the hours became a week of split shifts with only a 3 hour break from work. One hour of that 3 hours was spend commuting. not bad, right? Well, my meals have gotten all messed up because I work right through the lunch hour and the dinner hour. Some weeks I work 7 days a week with those hours. It is difficult to get motivated to even cook meals or even plan them out.
Today is the first day of my new life. Today, I plan to begin taking baby steps to a better lifestyle. I know that it will not happen over night, and that it will take a lot of dedication and hard work on my part, but it is something I need to do.
