The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Sunday, April 21, 2013

The good...JC is completely healed. He went back outside with the other horses yesterday. When he came in, he was completely sound. Not any lameness at all. I was hoping to get to ride today, but I have a buyer in town from Pennsylvania and won't be able to get out there. I will go out on Tuesday :)

The bad...My lack of exercise. I haven't gotten in any exercise since Thursday. Something I did during that exercise tweaked my back. I have already had back surgery so I am not playing with it. It is feeling better, but my schedule is so goofed up that I can't get into a rhythm now to get my workout in. All of my appointments are earlier than I usually schedule them.

The ugly...my eating these last few days. Usually, I keep my eating under control and my portions right, but these last few days, I have absolutely lost it. I had pizza on Friday and McDonald's yesterday. I generally never eat that stuff. My weight is up and, of course, I get to go to my doctor on Tuesday. All she is going to see is that my weight is up.

I'm really frustrated with myself. I have to figure out a way to get back on track. I have got to cut out the bad eating. I don't understand what is going on with me. I feel bloated and awful emoticon emoticon emoticon

I hate it when my back is hurting! Our extended winter and snow is getting to me! I can't wait to get out and work in my garden.

Hey, don't laugh, but even tai chi counts! (I got my folks an intro-to-tai-chi DVD which I thought would be good for old folks, but trying to do it mindfully w/proper form is surprisingly challenging...
And I never miss a chance to plug my yoga - even just sitting w/deep breathing exercises is all for the good.
Glad JC is all better; you didn't even need any "remote diagnostics" emoticon

I hope your back feels better soon. One fix at a time. Start with your eating and when your back is feeling better ease into exercise. I am so glad JC is better.

Good point about the connection between the lack of exercise and the eating. I know when I have put in a good workout, first of all, I don't want to ruin the hard work and second, I don't have as much time to sit around and eat. If my pizza craving doesn't go away soon, I'm afraid I will cave. Unfortunately, I don't understand the people who say they can just have a bite to satisfy their craving.

I know you will get back on track. We're all here for you! emoticon

Sometimes one thing starts the ball rolling, and not always in a good way. Try changing one thing at a time and go from there. Good luck!

Glad JC is better!

So glad JC is back to being good and healthy!
Sorry about your back...my neck is bothering me today...think the ST did it too me! I need to go to the Chiropractor, been putting it off.
I know the feeling, I have been overeating myself lately, maybe it is the weather-change of seasons can do that. Seems that when I get busy or stressed and with doing more of the biking lately, my appetite just increases. But, we can't keep that up for sure! emoticon emoticon

OUCH! Hope the back feels better soon! I think that may be the cause of the eating not so healthily. I do the same if I'm hurting more. I'll grab carby, meaty, goodness in whatever form is handy. Couple that with little to no exercise (eating because bored?) and the inevitable happens. Weight gain. The good news is that if it's caught early enough the weight comes off fairly easily again.

Gald JC is better! Have fun riding on Tuesday.
