I received the confirmation packet in the mail yesterday. I was wondering if I am going to wimp out if the weather is cold. The other day we got 9 inches of snow. My back hurts from shoveling the driveway of the snow from the 2 snowfall before that. (We hired a plow for the big one).
But, I tell myself that the cold should not matter because while I was shoveling the snow I was outside for a longer time than my anticipated finish time. So I can withstand the cold. I guess the first year they did this race (2008) they say we had blizzard-like condition. OK, if the weather is like that, I'll be a wimp.
We had a sunny day yesterday and I went to town for the library book sale and decided to run in town since the roads are plowed better there than closer to home. First, I ran with my granddaughter so we could do our "homework" for the running class. We ran 1.5 miles. Then I left her with her auntie and I went for a 7 miler. It felt so good. My time was not the greatest, but I felt strong while running.
Even so, it is causing me to wonder if I will be able to finish in 2:30 (last year's time was 2:41). I trained well on the treadmill for most of the winter but this last month I felt like I spent more time shoveling snow than I did running.
I am looking forward to seeing how i'll do.
