Thought and Prayer for Sunday, April 21, 2013

Sunday, April 21, 2013

When we decide to do what God wants us to do rather than what our friends want us to do, we can better help our friends. We can show them how putting God first in our lives allows us to have peace. We can show them how being obedient to Him helps others. We can show them how learning more about Him and His word gives us the strength we need to live through the tough situations. When friends do what pleases God rather than man, others will see how God intended us all to be and that is the best gift we could give any friend.

Colossians 3:23 “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know that when we live and work to please You rather than man, we are being a friend to others. Thank You for allowing us to be an example. Help us to resist the devil and temptation to follow the crowd. Allow Your Holy Spirit to work through us and to live as You want us to live so we can be a friend to others in a way that pleases You and not them. We know when we live to please You, others will be blessed. Thank You, Lord, for Your guidance and direction. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Living for God and doing His will can help us be better friends to others.

When we strive to please God and not man, we will find that we have more friends.

A friend who lives first to please God and honor Him is a true friend.

Friends who live to please God and strive to learn more about Him are great friends to have.

Being a friend who pleases God comes from knowing His word and having faith in Him no matter what.

Hebrews 11:6 “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” (NLT)
