Judges 3. Going around and around.

Read Judges 3.
In this chapter Israel goes through the cycle of obedience and prosperity to immorality and subjugation twice. The are delivered by God through Othniel and Ehud yet still after these men die, Israel again returns to the evil habits. In part it may be the pagan influence but I think it may be more internal. There is always the possibility that this was and is today a pride thing. In times of success people tend to credit their fortune to themselves, a 'self-made person'. Such a person has no need for God and so neglecting that influence descends to base levels. Self made prosperity does not last, that is an unfortunate history lesson that we continue to forget and repeat.
