I'm finding this 100k training a bit exhausting. More so than marathon training. On Saturday we planned to walk 40k, it wasn't on trails this time and there wasn't a huge hill so that helped make it a bit easier. It also ended up being about 35k or 22miles instead of 40k. However it took 5 and 1/2 hours. That's on schedule for an approximately 6k an hour pace which is the goal. It is a long time to be on your feet though. My hamstring, which was quite sore on Friday after my long run Thursday felt fine except a little twinge on the hills. I was more foot sore than anything else.
When I got home I didn't collapse like the last couple of weeks. I took my ice bath and shower and then cleaned the house. Then I collapsed :-)
I also had a 10k scheduled for Sunday morning. My legs felt okay although a little exhausted and my hamstring really hurt for the last half. I ran it in 54min which isn't a bad effort but slower than I used to be able to do it. My husband ran it with me and we went out to breakfast with some friends after. The rest of the day was spent napping or on the couch. I felt I earned it by then!
My ITB and hips are hurting a bit tonight but I'm hoping an easy week will help. I'm also booked in to see the physio on the 7th. Unfortunately that was the earliest I could book in. I'm also contemplating seeing a podiatrist about my toes. Whenever I run my second nail blisters and falls off. Now they are growing back slightly ingrown. I'm kind of hoping they can just remove the nail and the nail bed so it won't grow back. It'd look a bit strange but since they tend to be black, blistered or in the process of growing back it'd probably be more comfortable.
So fitness plans for the week are:
Monday: morning and afternoon classes - both are bodyweight/functional fitness sorts of classes
Tuesday: hill walking intervals or maybe rest depending on how my leg is
Wednesday: Boxing class, 10 mile run, PT session
Thursday: PM class usually involves lifting/body weight strength work
Friday: Boxing class and possibly interval run
Saturday: Hopefully hiking with my husband, aiming for 3-4 hours with some hills
Sunday: Tempo run
I'm also hoping every other day to walk the very steep, although not too long hill in front of my house 5 or more times to try to get some hill work in. This will depend on how my hamstring takes it.
Nutrition has been going okay. I've let myself loose a bit on the weekend because I'm burning so many calories. I'm aiming for healthy food and a bit of wine :-) I haven't tracked online but I have mentally tracked. My weight is around the same but I had a great NSV. I managed to zip up a size 8 dress, it is still a little tight but much better than when I bought it 6 months ago when I was in the US. It was so cheap I didn't mind buying it a little tight!
