Many years ago, I remember a lady who wore the same dress every day. She told me that she was going to wear it until she had lost 5 pounds. By the time she lost the 5 pounds, she hated putting the dress on, but it was a daily reminder to eat right. I thought she was crazy at the time, but now, 25 years later, I understand her reasoning. I decided to do something similar. I selected 5 shirts that I could wear to work and on the weekend. I hung the shirts outside of my closet so I could see them and only them. Everyday, I selected one of the shirts to wear and by the third week, I was really sick of wearing them. I wanted to reward myself by never having to wear them again after I had reached my first goal and
lost 10 pounds. I have lots of clothes in lots of sizes since I keep telling myself that I can wear things again...I don't want to waste money buying smaller things when I have so much more to lose. Today, I had a retirement party for the first group of shirts. Then I opened my closet and selected 5 new shirts. I had my own personal fashion show to make sure these shirts fit right and I hung them up where I would see them every day. Right now, they are a sign of my weight loss, but in a couple of weeks, I am sure that I will be ready to retire them too. This way, I am not spending money, but I am giving myself quite a nice reward...a new wardrobe every 10 pounds! 9 more wardrobes to go!
