Ran a 5k today.

Rained all day yesterday off and on. They said all day we would see highs around 80, but I doubt it ever got out of the 60s. Yet it wasn't cold. Odd.
Then the thunder storms rolled through without the promised tornado. Yeah, that's ok. Been the done that. Not fun at all.
That storm made it chilly this morning. In the 40s and breezy. And all my cold gear is in a bag in Corpus Christi TX.
When I dressed for this morning's Arbutus Spring Fling 5k, all I had was my shorts and sox and shirt and my new shoes. They are different, I will tell you that.
Those lugs across the ball of my foot gives me a whole new stance when I run.
I slid into my car and of course I have leather seats, nothing on my legs and no seat heater. Yowza it was cold. I got down to Arbutus and they had the hall open and they were serving coffee. Two thumbs up. It's just a little community race. About 120 people, mostly women, but I recognize a lot of faces from just running around locally.
The course was easy, it started off flat, then had only one hill of any consequence and back down into Arbutus business district/main street. I had been aware of a kid behind me for the entire course. Then as we enter the chute for the finish he burst past me and I swear he nearly knocked me over.
He finished 5 seconds in front of me. My 26:54 was a good time and I was very happy with the run.
Next up for me is the Frederick (MD) Running Festival Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on May 5.
