Day #4 - Saturdays Are Always A Challenge

I barely have the energy to write this blog tonight, but I'm going to try to bang it out before I fall asleep. Today was an ok day, great in terms of exercise, but so so in terms of food.

Here's the exercise I did today (4/20/13):


65 minutes on the Elliptical Trainer (the picture above is what I look like when I'm done, for some reason it's not letting me rotate it, lol)

Diverging Seated Row - 3 sets of 8, 115 pounds
Back Extension - 3 sets of 8, 115 pounds

So I ended up going to LA Fitness instead of exercising outside. I had a busy day, so I needed to be efficient with my time. It was a good thing too, because it was about 25 degrees cooler outside than it was a couple days ago.

I absolutely love the elliptical trainer. I get a great workout in a much shorter period of time than walking. Plus I can control the resistance and I like the fact that I get a full body workout. For now I have the elliptical set at 7 out of 20 resistance, which gives me a good amount of resistance, but lets me keep a decent pace.

So the exercise was good. Now the food is another story. Breakfast was good and I had a little snack after I got back from the gym. I didn't eat a full lunch because I knew I had two social events this evening. The first one was a birthday party at an Asian Buffet. Fortunately, I limited myself to one plate of food. The second event was a couple game night and that's where I likely overdid it. It's not that I had a ton of food, it's just that the food I had wasn't healthy (several wings, a few meatballs, smoked chicken, rice, rolls).

On another subject, I'm glad I've gotten back on my weight training. The only downside is, since I haven't done it in a while, I'm dealing with DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) right now. I'm sore in my chest area (I did chest exercises on Thursday). Hopefully it'll be gone after tomorrow, but at that point I may be dealing with some back soreness, lol. The good thing is, after the first couple weeks of weight training, my body will get used to it and I won't be quite as sore.

I'm wiped out. I'm thinking that tomorrow (Sunday) will be my rest day.
