Run Your Heart Out 5K Race Today! - ***UPDATED***

Saturday, April 20, 2013

My official time was posted as 0:37:25

Today I was scheduled to run my first 5K. To be honest, my race didn't go as planned. For the last week me and the kids have been sick. My 10 month old kept me up nearly all night for the last 2 nights. The weather has been so bad (icy) I haven't been able to safely train outdoors. So, I was sick, sleep deprived, had poor weather conditions and had to guess at how to dress.

But, no part of me was going to entertain the idea of missing the race. My time suffered (about 6 minutes slower than my training 5K time) but I still went and ran my 5K in 0:41:00! I'm a little disappointed that I didn't do better but I'm cutting myself some slack given the circumstances.

I logged onto my Spark People account today and saw a bunch of supportive comments on my page, that made me feel great. Thank you everyone for your support, it means the world to me that you'd take the time to cheer me on.

Next Race: Women Running For Women, 8K race in support of cervical cancer research. I can't wait!

Oh yeah, pictures...

Finish Line (not the most flattering angle but oh well, I DID IT!)

Considering all the stress you were under, that is a great time! And you will learn that there are no perfect races anyways. But, they are all great experiences in the end. Great job :o)
