What a week! I was horrified to see what happened at the Boston Marathon and all the ensuing news. I was grateful to see the suspects had been caught, but still so saddened for all those whose lives were changed forever by the actions of the bombers.
I went out to dinner on Monday with my husband. I was served two stuffed peppers, ate one and took the other home and ate it Tuesday lunch. Within an hour after lunch, I was sick with food poisoning. I spent the rest of the week recuperating. I'm still not 100%.
Despite not feeling 100%, I still participated in a 5K event this morning. I originally was hoping to trying jogging the entire thing, but because I wasn't feeling that great, I decided to try intervaling the 5K, switching between jogging and walking. I bettered my goal time by 1 1/2 minutes. So I'm a happy woman. I know that all the past weeks of C25K practice paid off, as I improved my time, my recovery was swift, and my muscles don't feel sore. The icing on the cake was that the proceeds from the 5K were for a very worthy cause, benefiting children living in poverty. In light of the events surrounding the Boston marathon, I wanted to do the 5K this morning, just out of a sense of solidarity for the Boston runners and for all affected. The winner of the 5K today wore a homemade shirt, that said "Praying for Boston". Alot of us wore similar sentiments on our clothing.
Yep, I'm not going to "win" the 90 day challenge, but I'm winning my health battles, step by step, day by day.
