Today is a BEAUTIFUL Day to Press the Restart Button

Saturday, April 20, 2013

It's been a tough week.

Taxes. Bombs at the Boston Marathon. Poison ricin letters. West, TX fertilizer plant explosion. A violent manhunt that paralyzed a major city and took additional lives. A major city with eerily empty streets was filled with heavily armed police. Spring rains pushed the Mississippi River toward flood levels.

Have you noticed nutjobs' tendencies to go off every April? Columbine, Timothy McVeigh, Waco, Virginia Tech . . .

I think it is evil throwing a fit because all of creation is blooming. Spring is like creation hitting Reboot. The earth is laughing in flowers; Life wins and death is DEFEATED during Passover and the Resurrection; and creation is erupting into beauty that self-identifies and glorifies God - beauty is God's handwriting, Ralph Waldo Emerson said.

When we remember this week, remember that for each tragedy and senseless act of violence, there were literally dozens of people doing good - 1st responders, trauma nurses, people of faith praying, surgeons, and dozens ordinary never-to-be-named citizens who all rushed in to overcome evil with good.

When we remember this week, remember the beauty as well:

As for me; "Today is a BEAUTIFUL Day to Hit the Restart Button". I didn't get hardly anything done last week, that I was supposed to last week.

By Friday morning I had given up on The List. I admit it. I stayed in bed and slept late like a lazy slug. Apparently, this was somehow the right thing to do (what??!!), because I was in good spirits and energetic at the piddly pay job Fri 2p - 11p, and all the usual stupidity going on there did not get to me. For once. Usually I'm fried by Friday, so this was significant.

Today is my only weekly planning day, and get stuff done day, and press the restart button day, and make a New List day, and make healthy food day, before the new week begins.

Sunday I serve at the church's bookstore during one service, and will go in to the other service. Sunday night, friends in my Life Group paid $20 for my ticket to attend a Christian concert. Several Christian groups came together to provide a family festival in the afternoon before the concert, and are asking for volunteers. I'll go directly from church to volunteering at the festival, and go from the festival to the concert. I will need to take a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner with me, and make those today, since I will leave too early for breakfast, and will be gone all day and night Sunday. If I don't prepare those meals today, I'll be eating nutritionless dead food tomorrow.

Monday I am determined to job hunt all day, including calling on several old and new temp agencies, and two prospective employers. I have to get ready for that today, i.e. clothes, hair, resumes printed, as I need to leave early Monday morning and the library doesn't open til 9am for printing. And I have Life Group Monday night, so will be gone all day and night Monday. So Sunday and Monday are spent already, and, I need to prepare 3 meals for Monday as well.

Tues-Fri I'll be back at the piddly pay job, and only have mornings to get everything else on The List for the week, accomplished. Which is setting myself up for failure. So I am working like crazy to get everything done today.

Have a great week everyone!

Spring is the time when most people are depressed. It's when most deaths occur in general too so I wonder if it has something to do with all of the tragedies that occur at this time of year too.

The pictures are beautiful. The concert sounds great. You certainly do keep busy. I sure hope the job hunt is productive.

Remember to put it in God's hands too, He does have hands that will hold you in times like these.

Sometimes sleeping late is the BEST option for a day!

I am exhorted by your wise planning ahead. Hmmm....I need to get going.

Thank you for the DELIGHTFUL spring pictures!
