Saturday, April 20, 2013...so there, the pillows are back in place

Saturday, April 20, 2013

as my Mom carefully restores order to the living room couch with it's telltale signs of the Bearded Collies nightly repose...and forgets what she came to this end of the house to tell me.
The little lambs have been fed. Baby Hughey, the youngest is scarfing a full bottle and keeping up in growth with the lamb 10 days his senior. Tom Thumb is guzzling away, vigorous but still diminutive but gaining weight and Bo Peep waits politely...unlike the boys for her bottle given last. I am just waiting for the grass to dry a bit before putting them out in the guinea pen where they will snug together on a mat in the house and snooze when not exploring the grassy area.
So far I just had one lamb to get back to his mom...she wasn't too concerned and by his weight he hadn't missed any meals. She continued to graze til full and then stopped to let him nurse. Turn out has been done and I have plans to work with Lady, my miniature horse today. The big ponies pen needs to be cleaned now that the weather is stabilizing and the barn apartment could use a good going over. The roses are sooo ready to burst out and I keep replenishing the Iris vase with flowers that turn up in obscure spots. A petunia of hot pink/redviolet persuasion has come up in the borders by the fence...I dump pots and seeds and such in there so it is a real original in plantings. Grape vines and trumpet vines are leafing out and in general the landscape is really coming alive.
I have designs on some cinnamon toast...two slices left and that would hit the spot...then maybe something hot...will think on that.
Have a wonderfull day.

Sounds lovely! My daughter has a rose bush, over 200 blooms about ready to blossom. The few that have are weak. I know that I should cull them for others to thrive more beautifully, but for now, the color, the hope, is so beautiful, I hadn't the heart...The gentle spring dotting of the reds on the seasonal lighter greens...

Ah, sounds like you're already having a great day. =)

I love the description of the mother sheep, not being too concerned with the returned lamb. Lol...

I noticed we had some honeysuckle starting to bloom on the back fence. I know some people think of it as a weed, but to me, nothing smells better on a warm summer night. I was glad we still had some. I thought the drought had gotten it.

I like your 'original planting'. Sounds exciting! ;)
