Last night, after I had gone to bed (my husband was still up), he woke me because he had cut his thumb on a very sharp knife and couldn't get it to stop bleeding. It took us a while to get it to stop so that we could get a bandage on it. A couple of hours after that, the thunderstorms swept through this area and again I was awakened. I hope today is calmer and that I can get a better bandage on hubby's thumb.
The day went down from above. David wanted to change his bandage on his thumb and that just started it bleeding again and I couldn’t get it stopped. We ended up in the emergency room for more than four hours. The doctor said she had not seen anyone as hard to get the blood stopped except in a hemophilic. She tried using ephinephrine (sp) to constrict the little blood vessels and that didn’t work. It wasn’t a huge cut, but more sliced off the top. The doctor would have been able to stitch it if it had been cut down into the tissue, but this was a shallow slice. Finally, she got it stopped enough to apply a type of surgical super protein to make it coagulate and sort of glue it. Seven o’clock and we are back home. Exhausted.
