Accommodating Fun! (Detroit Short Trip Recap)

Friday, April 19, 2013

"When you are in a relationship with someone, you'd be surprised what sounds like fun - so long as both of you are involved." (New Year's Resolution, Laura Briggs)

Cute and true!

In a recent blog, Gretchen Ruben, author of the "Happiness Project" describes three categories of fun:
1) Relaxing fun (no effort is required ... In this category I would probably list watching a movie, listening to relaxing music or a nice bubble bath!)
2) Challenging fun ( my training plan fits perfectly in this category: requires effort and dedication, but produce greater satisfaction!), and lastly
3) Accommodating fun (require energy to coordinate with others, building relationships and creating memories).

I think my weekend trip to Detroit at the beginning of April fits into the last category!

The reason for the trip was to go to a hockey game...

I like hockey, however I would not go out of my way to see an NHL hockey game. In the other hand, I would not turn down a weekend getaway with my hubby (and Norm - a friend), no kids!!! So, I have to say that it was a fun weekend. I enjoyed the walk even I at time it felt like Zombie land!!!

Love the bakery stop and later on the beer tasting

(gotta laugh at this one, imported from across the river!!! Where I come from it is almost local!)
It was a cool day and making a few stops in some of the fan shops (sports of course!) was a nice way to warm up! ... and take pictures too...

(Jeff and Norm!)

...and the casual dinner at the "Traffic Jam and Snug"... no pic - sorry... The curry meatloaf was really worth it!
As for the hockey game, I was :-) to wear the Nordiques jersey and watch Tootoo (Detroit) beats Colorado 3-2.
(here with our friend Norm...)I think I spent more time watching the crowd than the action on the ice, except for the last 5 min of the game!
Lastly, Jeff got to see in person one of his all time favorites!

Did you try something new or did something that you would not have done if it wasn't in the name of "fun together"?

Have a great start to your weekend!

Since DH retired, we have gone to a lot of garage sales and estate sales. It's fun and never know what you'll find. One man's junk is another man's treasure!
