Trilliums are blooming

Friday, April 19, 2013

Trillium bloom for such a short period, about a week and they are gone for the rest of the year.

other woodland flowers blooming now, bleeding hearts in abundance

The flowers are in a park that has a small mountain and bit of forest and brush. A small plane crashed against the mountain in the 60s and some of the fuselage remains. Pranksters stuck it part way up a tree for dramatic effect.

LOOOVE the trilliums and they are in full bloom here too. Skunk cabbage too! : )
There are special hikes we do in the summer, following the spring flowers as the snow melts in different places. Mt Jefferson National park can only be hiked in August- September and you can see the spring flowers even then.

We don't have trilliums in France, I really enjoyed discovering them thanks to you. Thank you!

Thanks for the day brightener!! My chives haven't even pretended to pop up. No flowers, no grass... just snow and ice and sunshine that makes you believe it's warmer than it really is.

It sure is nice to see someone elses flowers blooming. Here in Wisconsin. It's been too cold. It was only 36 today with a windchill of 27 with snow. We're beginning to think that we'll be skipping Spring this year and going directly into summer.
