Level 2, day 3. I was actually looking forward to it today. As the school year nears the end, my seniors are starting to get anxious. They are getting difficult to handle. Today was our life skills trip. They had to come up with a menu, shop for the items, and then prepare the meal. Sounds cool in theory.
So they voted for stir-fry chicken. Before we even got our coats, one boy went ballistic about how much he hated shopping. He cussed me up one side and down the other, and then took his show on the road for all the classrooms to share. While I was corralling him, the job coach informed me that I would only be able to have one van. So, I crammed all of them into the van with an assistant, and I followed along behind them with our other assistant. They did not behave inside the store. Loud and goofy. One boy got angry about something and hid. When I finally got them and the food back in the van and drove to the main campus to use the kitchen, we discovered that somebody had scratched my name off the reservation form, wrote in their own, and was already having their class cook in the kitchen.
Scratched my name off and wrote theirs in. The nerve! It's a 30 minute drive, we had a bunch of perishable food and six teenagers that are loud and unruly--and that's when they are trying to be good. I got the problem resolved, but the morning went downhill from there. I was a frazzled mess by the time I actually got home from work.
Jillian was a piece of cake today. I needed to work off some of that irritation. I barely even broke a sweat, and the calorie burn was much lower. Now I'm slightly less irritable. Slightly.
