Prayers for Boston from parkruns in UK
Friday, April 19, 2013
parkruns throughout the UK are holding Boston Marathon up in prayers/thoughts/support tomorrow. Many will start with 1 minutes silence, many with 1 minutes applause, all with love
parkrun worldwide are saddened by the recent events at the Boston Marathon. Any act of terrorism and the effects are abhorrent. When it targets the heart of the communities we hold dear the we are even more saddened and appalled. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected.
So many runners use their love for running to raise money for charities. Which other sport does that? Does football? Does golf? Does tennis? Nope. Or if they do, it's a once-a-year event. And there I can't think of another sporting event on the scale of the Boston Marathon where you can spectate without a hefty entrance fee.
Runners are tough, they run through their pain. This runner, along with millions of others around the world, will be defiantly running again this weekend, and honouring Boston Marathoners and spectators with every step they take.
