NAFD 19 Poison Ivy will not win...(pictures not all pretty)

Friday, April 19, 2013

It is so now official like my itching body didn't already know it.. YES I have been tracked down and hunted by the dreaded POISON IVY !!

IT all started innocently.. This bush I didn't like it.. so after confirming with my hubby that he didn't like it either, we decided it could come out and what we would do once it was gone.

I'm thinking that bush really liked being there. I think I hurt it feelers and it was going to extract revenge upon me.

here was my bush..

We have visions of a little patio around the tree with a nice place to sit and enjoy the morning or neighbor kids playing.

here is what is left of the bush...

OKay I hear you .. I have not once until today ran into poison ivy.. Not in MInnesota surrounded by woods.. Not in Nebraska playing as kid... Odd maybe , I just have never be caught by it. So this is the start of my rash...

not to bad but picture doesn't do it justice.. I called yesterday they couldn't get me in ..

this is the same rash today...

this is not the only place.. but right side of face and right arm are the worse.
I am so glad I got into the doctor.. but now I am on Steriods.. which mean

1.I may be moody... I don't like being moody

2.I may crave sweets... I'm like really Wow Steroids way to mess with me. I will be fighting them all I can.

3. I am diabetic .. My blood sugar will go up fasting could be up to 200-300.. I MEAN REALLY.... UGHHH I am lucky I have it controlled well.. 103 this morning.. I know it is temporary.. but ick... That will make me more moody.

4. I AM GOING TO fight it every step of the way.. I will be on track in calorie range .. sugar cravings be damned.... I will exercise every day to help combat that rising blood sugar. I will not lay down.. unless I take too much Benadryl.. then I might not have that option.. heheh

so here is my enemy :

less than 2 feet from my front door..

See I knew I didn't like that bush for a reason.. he was hiding his friend.. UGG bushes what do they know..

OKay I am going for a walk , then hopefully my prescription will be ready to pick up. Got a starter shot at the Doc.. then I take the benadryl and might nap but since I will have walked.. I can go nighty nighty...

I will not say I can't because of that Poison Ivy .. I will and CAN stay on program and exercise every day..

HUGS to all my supporters.. YOU GUYS ROCK !! and you are my ROCKS !! you help me every day in every way.. You guys help make this JOURNEY AWESOME !! see no crummpy frummpy yet... emoticon

Icky, I'm sorry that happened to you. There is a product on the market called "oral ivy" that is supposed to help prevent/treat poison ivy more naturally. I'm not sure where to buy it, but maybe if you look at some online stores it is available. My bf has been using it and it seems to help.

At least you're able to treat it now. Hopefully the itch will be gone soon!

Poison ivy - definitely not my friend either! I spent many a times living in the woods of New Jersey covered in head to toe calamine lotion. *scratch*

My mom had it worst. The neighbor actually burned some brush one year in front of his house and I guess there was poison ivy in there. My mom breathed it in - and you can figure the rest. She was miserable!

We have a bush like that in front of our house - seems more like a weed. It just grows and grows. I want to take it out but it is really going to get hard trying to get to all of its roots - it is everywhere. Dh is not the most involved home-owner so I won't get help there. So, yes - I am lazy and just leave it be.

The rash looks horribly uncomfortable! Hope you get through the discomfort of the poison ivy and the steroids soon. Dh just finished up his prescription for a sinus infection. Lucky for him - he doesn't like sweets to begin with - no cravings for him.

Sumay

Reminds me of the last time I got poison ivy ...after yard work. The steroids were terrible. They made me eat nonstop. Even when I was stuffed, I was compelled to eat (thankfully, I figured out what was going on and got it under control).

You are brave and strong and resilient. Remember that and repeat it every time you look in the mirror and see the poison ivy.
