today, i did W5D3 of my c25k workout... which includes just one running stretch.. but it's 20 mins long! up until now, the longest stretch was 8 mins, and i can't even express how happy i am with myself today!
because i tend to psych myself out when i'm running, i decided to put a sticky note over the "time" on my treadmill, so that i could just focus on running, not on how long i have left, etc. instead, i challenged myself to run through 4 songs (they are pretty long) before i could even peek at the time number. after 4 songs, i had already run 15 mins! so i took the sticky note off, and i have to admit, it was harder after that.. but i was determined to "stubborn" myself through it.. i didn't want to get to 18mins done and then quit. running for 20 whole minutes is such a huge accomplishment for me.. my brain really. now i know i can do it, no excuses!!
as for yesterday, i ended up having to skip my kettle bell workout... my daycare toddlers didn't nap like they are supposed to.. and i can't leave them unattended, so i ended up having a rest day. i'm upset that i missed my kettle bells, i'm going to try to see if i can get one in tomorrow, even though i don't have it planned. if it would stop raining around here, i could ask hubby to take the kids to a park for an hour or two.
it's really hard for me to get a good workout in on the weekend, with all the kids home. so i'm trying to focus on doing 5 good workouts during the week (3 c25k's and 2 kettle bells) and if i get anything done on the weekend (family bike rides!), then it's a bonus.
also got my 150 squats done today too. i have to say that i'm enjoying the squat challenge, and after almost 2.5 weeks, i can already feel my legs getting stronger (and i really think the squats are helping with my running too!). once my squat challenge is done, i think i will pick another challenge to do.. lunges? crunches? push ups? i have time to decide.
