CHOOSE YOUR CLOSE FRIENDS WISELY
We all want friends. We all want to have someone we can call our friend. However, we do need to choose our friends wisely. When we believe we have to be friends with someone because there is no one else but that person is doing wrong things, then we are better off with no friends at all. We can turn to God. He will always be our friend. It is dangerous to hang around those who are lost and even more dangerous to join in with them. When we choose to hang around those who choose to do wrong, the temptation will be great to join in.
Psalm 1:1 “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us today to examine the friends we have. Help us not to be judgmental toward them but to be sure that what they are doing is in line with Your will. We know that we are weak and it would be hard for us not to become used to their sin and eventually join in. Help us to not follow the advice of the wicked and to choose our friends wisely. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
When we choose our friends according to God’s standards, we will have joy.
God doesn’t want us to be tempted to do wrong. When we choose our friends wisely, we can avoid some temptation.
If we are doing something wrong and our friends support our wrongdoing, then we need to find different friends.
When we struggle doing right from wrong, we need supportive and godly friends to help us.
A friend is someone who reminds us to do right and helps us when we get on the path that takes us away from God.
Proverbs 2:20 “Follow the steps of good men instead, and stay on the paths of the righteous.” (NLT)
