WooHoo! End of the 5th week of the challenge today - it is going by quickly! In the 5 weeks I have lost 7.8lbs, which I am just peachy keen with! I had set a goal to have lost 25lbs when I leave for Florida so that I could have my hair cut while I was there (my 25lb goal reward)! I leave for Florida on the 30th and I have one more pound to go (actually 0.6lb)! :)
I have also continued my water drinking streak - I am on day 68 of drinking at least 8 cups of water a day! What a big difference this has made for me and how I feel! I used to go most days without ever drinking a single glass! Now if I go until lunch I feel stuffy headed, hot and gross! I also decreased my caffeine intake and usually only have one cup of tea every morning (if I am feeling WILD I will drink two in the morning) - but I had my first cup of coffee in months yesterday and I thought I was going to die! It was HORRIBLE after! I thought I was going to have to call in sick to work, I couldn't leave the bathroom! It's also really hard for me to drink alcohol as well, I have a very low tolerance for anything that dehydrates me now!
I track my food EVERY SINGLE DAY. No excuses. If I can't get online to do it, I write down what I eat on a slip of paper (or even a napkin) and log it when I can get online. Even if I know I am going to have a wild day and eat over - I log it! It really puts things in perspective when I look back at my week's or month's intake. At the time of wild days it may feel crazy, but when you look back and see all those good days with only a few bad - it feels good!
Overall since becoming more healthy my sleep has improved! I still have crappy nights when I have a hard time sleeping - and early mornings that cut my sleep short, but overall I have more energy and more stable sleep. I also am a nurse so switching between different shifts is part of my career and sometimes a bad night of sleep is unavoidable! All I can do is my best to make sleep a priority! And I have definitely noticed that on days when I am tired I have more cravings - to eat more and to eat fattier/carbier foods. So best to avoid that as possible! :P
My greatest area for improvement is fitness! I have been trying to increase the amount of time I spend working out - especially with my running training. I don't always follow it perfectly but I am slowly increasing intensity, length and frequency! I love when I see that my run/walk distance/time has improved! And of course, I track all my fitness - and so does my fitbit, but that little sucker makes no sense at all to me as it tracks EVERYTHING (every single tiny step or moment I am not sitting or standing still)! But I just let it do its own thing and keep an eye on my daily steps and my sleep tracking! LOL!
Overall, it has been good!
Also I did this image - and it makes me feel better that even though I lost little on the scale in one month, I have obviously lost inches on my middle!
