My road to the Gastric Sleeve

Friday, April 19, 2013

Yesterday I went and saw the shrink so I can be approved for Baratric surgery. I had wanted to do it for some time now, but my old insurance company wanted me to pay for 3 different program, 3 months each and each one had to fail before they would apporve me.....What! I decided to do it myself and lost 87lbs in a two year period. That was great...but the pounds found me emoticonha ha...with some of his friends, once again starting the start/stop and fad diets trying to get it right again.
Last month I found out I was diabetic. That was enough for me. I finally got my hands on some insurance and the first thing I asked was did they pay for surgery. I was told they did if it was medically neccessary.....that was a no brainer since I have heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholestorel and i'm a diabetic. Now i'm going through the process of getting all my test together to get this done.
Attend a Seminar: Check
Mammogram: Check
Colonosocpy: Check
Psych Eval: Check
Dietician Consult: Check
Pap Smear to be done in June
Baraium Swallow to be done in July
Blood Work to be done in July
6 Months with PCP:Should be finshed in September

I went to two hospitals who offered surgery. The first one wanted $1,057 for their before and after program. (That was not going to happen).
The second hospital wanted $120 for 6 1hour personal training sessions......That sound alot more reasonable....shoot! great actually. Where are you going to find a personal trainer for $20 an hour?

Some days I wake up and feel like all of this is going to take forever. Then other days I feel that it's coming up too quick. It's time for me to change my life and even though part of me feels like I didn't do my best on my own, the fact of the matter is...I need help....and i'm accepting to it now.

So I took a picture of myself as she asked. I'll take another one the day before surgery and then once a month after that. I'm going to try to wear the same clothes (at least until they don't stay up anymore emoticon lol).

So I feel that October is the lastest (where i'm going the next insurance can get you on the table in two months or less if all your test are done).
Now that I wrote this down i'm excited again....but that's just for today. Thankfully I have the support I find here at Sparkpeople. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
