Friday, April 19, 2013...wow, does Spring ever need a haircut..

Friday, April 19, 2013

Sun is out, breeze moving the wax leaf myrtles in the frenzy of an aerobic exercise class and guineas chattering alarm. Dr. Jeffers and Jeramiah preach from Mom's kitchen and I am at a lull...a shortened one, now...lol. I just got a call from a lady wishing to purchase young ewes to start her flock....so I will be counting sheep today to see what I have to sell. Mom stood in the doorway and is excited about the prospect of decreasing the flock...we are both a bit weary from feeding babies...but it is a good weariness.
I am eager for the warmth to increase though the north wind offsets that. Regardless, I will mow the yard, put lambs in the guinea pen, clean the greenhouse and get that barn in order...an ongoing task...that's how I always know I am alive as there is always stuff that needs doing.
Breakfast was a couple of small flour tortillas, mayo and a couple of ounces of ham...two cups of coffee...sipped at liesure after the mad dash to feed everybody. I am looking at a container of fruit salad for a snack later on....working towards healthier food through the day...time to bundle up and get movin.

Whew, y'all are always so busy, makes me feel lazy! ;)

Decreasing the flock sounds good. I'm sure you both could use fewer mouths to feed.

I'm eager for the warmth to increase, too!! Where's my lovely spring? Even if it usually only lasts a few weeks in Texas, before the summer gets here. I always enjoy it. Sigh.

I have been bargaining with myself since about 1:30pm after I mowed the front yard...mostly...ran out of gasoline which means I have to get presentable to go get more full containers...so, I fed lambs and moved them to the guinea pen and headed to the barn to clean stalls and portion out feed. I got the stalls clean and bedded and even let the old ram out to exercise. I put up enough feed for 10 days and need to fetch another bucket of grain before I can put up the full two weeks worth. Meanwhile the old ram is far too rambunctious. None of the girls were out so I think he thought it necessary to boss me around...rather irritating. I just walked in his pen and when he followed me in trying to push me around I politely stepped out and shut him back in....I suspect he has Spring fever and is feeling a bit frustrated...such is life. Anyway...I kept telling myself that after doing such and such then I would take a break...so I came to the house where Mom was sitting under her old hair dryer and the poodle demanded some food and to go out....now I am free to take a break and cat nap for a couple of hours. The 2 cups of fruit salad did make a good snack over the morning and afternoon....along with some microwave popcorn....just sleepy now.
