Words fail me right now - I'm so desperately trying to remain calm........but it's getting to be quite the challenge right now.....

emoticon

So.......I'm trying to develop some kind of "emotional anchor" by planning at least one meal for myself today (it's a salad, which is a *big deal* for me as I'm not normally a salad fan).......

My thoughts are quite dark due to the events of this past week - an irritating situation (poor - scratch that - *nonexistent* customer service) hasn't helped matters any......good thing I don't drink!

Sorry for the vent as my former Spark persona was getting too negative and toxic to maintain (the reason why I closed out the account and took a few weeks away to recharge and regroup).........of course, with Murphy's Law taking full effect (yep, I'm very much a believer in that!), I'm facing a significant challenge to my mood and non-physical well-being (and I'm not even in the Boston area).....

Let's hope that things turn around in a positive sense for all of us, world-wide - it is so desperately needed!

(One positive note this week so as to not leave the Spark blogosphere as a total Debbie Downer - I appear to be making good progress in breaking poor sleeping habits that have been dogging me for several months now!)

Here's to a better day and a great weekend ahead!

Yes, and I was quite impressed and happy that with your frownie faces there were no tears. YAY! One cannot stay sad with the word raspberries around. It's just too unbelievable....! No matter how you turn the stem side around, it's always smiling at you!

Look - bad things happen every day - and many times they don't make it to the news room. It is part of life. However, there are just as many good things that happen - and often those never make the news.

Every situation that we go through - whether good or bad - we learn from and hopefully we will come out the victor. It is so very sad that people lost their lives and the idea that someone would intentionally do something to harm another person - by choice - is just appalling. I understand your concern.

However, there were people there that day that stood and stared fear in the face - and ran to help those in need. Whether by holding a hand - or rushing to help - they were there, despite the fear. Look - if some danger is coming your way - your first reaction would be to run away - save yourself. However, did you see people actually run in that direction to help those in need? Yes, you did! The police - the volunteers - the ordinary citizens - the doctors in the hospitals - the nurses - everyone - extended their arms to those who needed it.

Even now - if you search through the blogs - you will find many that address that tragedy - worrying for people they never even met and sending their hopes and prayers. It is only a few that can do terrible things like this - to harm another human being without a feeling in their heart. The rest of us - we care - we hurt when we see others are hurt - and I'm assuming that is why you are feeling so bad.

For all those people who struggled to help those who were harmed - for all those people who were harmed and are struggling to get past this tragedy - for all those people who know someone who was hurt/died in this tragedy - we owe it to them - and all that they struggled for - to believe in the best of humanity. For every tear that they have cried - let's show them it is worth it - by showing that we are above the evil that was perpetrated that day. Let's do it by striving to make a difference in the people's lives that we touch. Not because we can get anything out of it - but because it is the right thing to do.

One of my absolute favorite quotes - and one that I try to live by - sums it up much better than I can:

Mahatma Gandhi - "Be the change that you wish to see in the world."

Small steps, like getting more sleep will really help get you to your goals. Also salads are great as there are so many ways to jazz them up with all your favorite veggies! Have a wonderful weekend!

I know I'm a weird one, but when I'm feeling irritated or down about something I just go outside, close my eyes and forget every thing for a few minutes and just listen to nature. Cheesy I know, but I normally have a different outlook on the situation afterwords. And thats great about your sleeping habits! Good to hear! emoticon
