Not an ordinary Friday what do you have planned??

Friday, April 19, 2013

First let me catch up on yesterday's news: we had 30 families show up for boxes of food, that alone is great because it was storming like CRAZY and we were under a tornado watch. The guys who load the food for the people were holding umbrellas so the people wouldn't get too wet.. Seven deliveries went and 45 people were fed. The total number of people fed through our food bank was 108. I am very thankful to have a part in this even though there are ups and downs.

Now on to today!! It is kid fest today! The kids in our church is going on a trip to Ohio. The Great wolf Lodge!! is the place to be!! I have snacks packed (not all healthy ones I must admit, because we really are dependent on what we get in at the food bank) Seven blessed kids who were sponsored in one way or another are very excited! The church can afford to give them $5.00 a meal times three meals a day. (So, you see where the snacks need to come in) Three counselors are going so please pray for them because the kids are very hyper "jelly beans" to begin with....LOL

Yeah!! New alarm system!! I am so tired of getting "middle of the night" calls and having to get up and run with the hubby to church only to find out it's a false alarm. Goodbye ADT & AAA.

Then I am going to work 7-11 PM. I need to plan my day right so I don't end up coming home from work famished, devouring the fridge and walk in pantry. So until then... I sit here typing this blog and sipping coffee. What do you have planned for today and did you meal plan??

Have a great wonderful day!! Your day is as great as your going to make it!! Put on some peppy, uplifting music and LET THE DAY BEGIN!

For today I give you a photo of nursing humor: LOL

    WOW!! ARCHIMEDESII
Be safe!! I hope they find who did this soon!!
We get things from local supermarkets here but I need to step up the game, and ask more stores. I was on the phone today over an hour with the IRS to get the proper forms faxed to us so I can show merchants.
I order from gleaners food bank each week and on the list is whats called "selvage" foods. it is cheaper than the other food I can order. It generally runs about 18 cents a pound.
Thanks for the help and suggestions!!

You're doing a wonderful thing !! Thank you for helping out.

Your food bank must be helping a lot of local families. In a couple of weeks, I'll be doing a charity walk called the Walk for Hunger in Boston. It's a 20 mile walk to benefit Project Bread. They service the food pantries across Massachusetts. Because of the weakened economy more and more families need help putting food on the table. Panera Bread donates its day old loaves here too. I have a friend who volunteers for a charity that picks them up in the evening. Do you also collect dented cans from the supermarket ? Some supermarkets will donate the dented cans. That might be another good way to get more food donations.

What am I doing today ? I'm doing more Sparking because I'm in the lock down area in Greater Boston. They are hunting down the second bomber not too far from where I live. We've all been asked to stay in to let the police to do their job.

Enjoy the rest of your day !
