Fabulous day!

Friday, April 19, 2013

I started my new position on Thursday and at first, I have to say that I was NOT liking it. It didn't feel right and I was really thinking I made the wrong choice. During the course of the day, my attitude changed. My student is such a darling girl. At the end of the day, I got two pieces of artwork from her, two hugs, and told that I was going to be missed during the weekend. This is huge for an autistic child. I knew right then and there that I was put there to help this young 2nd grader. I think I'm going to love this.

Then, I come home and in my mailbox was a letter from the radiology department. I had a mammogram on Tuesday and was a little worried since there is a history of breast cancer in my family. The letter informed me that there were no significant abnormalities and cancer was not detected at this time. Whew!

Then, I check my email. I get a letter from my instructor. I'm taking a class I need for my SpEd credentials here in Nevada. I had just submitted my exam on Wednesday. Well, the email was from my instructor informing me that he graded my exam. I log into my grade book, and find out that I made an 18/18 on the test. Woo hoo!! That makes my average a 99%. I think I got this! LOL There is only one more test and an essay left, and then the course is finished.

So, all in all it was a fabulous day! Since we are on a four day school week, I am off until Tuesday - I took a personal day to take my friend to the doctor. It's gonna be a great weekend.

What a great week for you all around. It takes special people to work with kids with autism at times. I can honestly say I have loved all of them that I have had mainstreamed into my classroom. It is intriguing to figure them out, and you are right, two of mine still stop and see me to give me hugs. Greatest feeling in the world. Enjoy your weekend and take time to think about this past week. You will be smiling! emoticon
