Questions about Measuring?

Since I don't know when I will next see a set of scales, I took my measurements this morning. I wanted to have some way to track my progress between weigh-ins. I have never tracked inches for one reason: I really don't know the correct way to measure myself. It always seems that I could measure myself today, and then repeat it again tomorrow and get a completely different set of numbers. And now I don't know what to do about the sagging skin? Do Ieave the tape loose around the skin, or pull it tight? And what about the bust measurement?? With a supportive bra, a sports bra, or no bra at all? Because that will produce 3 very different measurements!

For the time being I have left the extra skin to hang loose and measured around it, and I used a sports bra while measuring my bust.

I'm also wondering if its going to be possible to track my foods, since the food I eat here in Africa is pretty different from the standard american diet. I know I'm not going to find indigenous vegetables, ugali or wimbi porridge on the list. I'm going to have to see if I can find "close enough" substitutes without spending too much time on here.

    On the measurements, I would say that you just do the measurements in a consistent manner (same spot, pull it tight, etc), then you always have a point of reference.

On the foods, I would start by finding the equivalent and then take different foods that you eat consistently and put a little research into them to get a more accurate picture.

Just keep at it. (I am interested in finding out about some of the foods that you eat).

    Wear the same clothing every time you measure. I stay away from sports bras and compression clothing when I measure. And I measure the same place all the time. As for loose skin, you want the tape to lie slat but not be too tight.

    I agree with LUCKYDOGFARM--just be sure to wear the same type of bra and try to aim for the same tape placement each time. I laughed when you wrote "...supportive...sports...or no bra at all.." because at this stage of my life, "no bra at all" would be my WAIST measurement! LOL

    Hope, I have the same issues with measuring. How do I know where to put the tape measure! This is what I have done.
1) Take a photo of yourself in what you will be wearing for your measurements
2) mark the photo of the areas you are going to measure
3) always measure at that same area!

Pretty basic. If you are measuring the largest part of your upper arm, note on the picture that you are measuring x-inches up from your elbow, or x-inches above your belly button, etc. if you don't note the spot, it will be hard to find it later on as that largest spot starts shrinking!
