Lovely Thursday!

Thursday, April 18, 2013

I did not exercise today, but I planned it that way. Getting up at 2:30 to go into work was going to be hard enough after working over the day before.

My diet was kind of all over the place. I was extremely tired so I had a diet pepsi and some doritos and a cheeseburger at work. Since I had eaten breakfast at 3 my hunger pains were all over the place. I made up for it by not being hungry at dinner time. I am too tired, I think so I only ate a little, but tired to get a mix in.

I busted my butt at work and got out on time at noon. I came home and relaxed a little and then took Swing to a riding lesson. He has been off for most of the winter so we are kind of doing the basics right now. However, he and I have spooking issues. He will usually dart over from an area he does not like and then speed up after he passes it. If we are showing it is usually the judges booth. My instructor, Janeen, worked with me on how to react when he does this. I am not terrified of this. I don't want to fall of, but I stay calm. I do however, pull too much on the reins and do not react before the issue becomes a problem and we worked on that. It was good for us. We also worked on keeping him from getting heavy in my hands. He is figuring out how to come over his back but then expects me to hold his head weight in the reins. We did tons of sitting trot work....more that=n I have ever done with him,,,,,and if I must say my best ever. We did great until we did canter work(which was really great!) and then tried to come back down into a sitting trot. We definitely were not in sync! LOL There is always homework in dressage! :)
I really think that my weight loss and working out have helped my riding skills tons! Now, to get back to working out every day again.
I came home after my lesson and sat in the grass by the pond while Shadow swam and tried to catch fish and frogs for at least a half hour. She loves the pond! Of course she had to come in and lay on her blanket until she dried!
A lovely end to a lovely day! Tomorrow is a 12 hour work day for me and then I am off for a week!
I still have some catching up to do on my Spark friends feeds....probably tomorrow night....

Sounds like a great lesson. I applaud you for all the sitting trot. I don't get lessons very often now, rarely really, and I don't push myself to my sitting is getting weaker and weaker. Roxy has been heavy in my hand so far this spring. I am hoping as she gains fitness that will correct itself. ...I need to gain fitness too and balance!
