A good day for a run...

Thursday, April 18, 2013

I decided to change things up a little today and ran outside rather than at the gym. I finished 3.4 miles in 36 minutes... and I didn't run the entire thing, I ran the first mile then did intervals. It was such a beautiful day today, it just seemed like the thing to do. I found a solution for my key issue when I am running. I walk to my brother's house first and leave my keys at his house (and occasionally the dog too). After my run I stopped at the little corner store and bought the two foods I was craving today. Sardines and strawberries. Not to be eaten together, just in case you were wondering. I don't even know that I really like sardines all that much, but I was craving them something fierce, so I figured what the heck, why not? I had them with crackers for a snack. Some of the strawberries I added to my protein shake for lunch, and I will just eat the rest tonight probably. I have this theory that if I am craving something (food) then there is something about that food that my body needs. This doesn't work with chips or sweets, but I find it is true for most other foods.

If I get going early enough tomorrow I think I might go to the gym and fit in a short workout before my friend comes over. I only made it to the gym once this week, which isn't very cost effective. I did get PLENTY of exercise though, starting with kayaking, then my monster walk, and then running yesterday and today. So I am not whining about not getting enough exercise, just that I paid for my gym membership and I should make use of it. I wish my gym had a pool, is what I wish. I want to start swimming again, but the pool I can use has very restricted (inconvenient) hours. sigh.

10 years ago I would have banned a person from my home for opening sardines (maybe a bit of hyperbole) and now I enjoy them. Age playing games with me? They are healthy foods and hard to over eat on them.

Major snow here in MN. 5 inches or so on the ground so far and still snowing.

Hope this storm dies off when it gets to your part of the country.

I find I want protein after a run. That could be where the sardines come in!

You are amazing. I'm so proud to have you as a Spark friend. You are too cool.

I wish my fitness center had a pool, too! I guess it just proves we can't have everything we want. We don't even have a "Plan B"; the university in town deferred maintenance on their pool for so long they finally closed it. emoticon

Good job today!

My wish for you is a pool with convenient hours. You just might need to switch everything up one day a week and see how that affects you.

I hate to admit it, but I crave sardines about once a year, too. Can't stand them when I don't crave them. And about half a tin fixes it. I NEVER overeat sardines!! I have something else weird like that that I can't remember, but it's sure to make me remember in the next few months!!
