Food Diary

I am still struggling weight wise, I keep restating my food diary and then not bothering to do it, think motivation is the problem and also evening comfort eating but I am just about managing to control it. I had a chat with a health and fitness expert yesterday and she thinks that I am doing nothing wrong but could up my exercise a bit which I shall try to do.
I am still determined to try and lose the weight as I am not ready to give up just yet.
Not sure why but my back is aching more, I don't think it is the sciatica as it feels different and is only on my left side. My counselling is coming to an end in a couple of weeks, it has been a big help to me.

    I just started an interesting book, "A Calm Brain, Unlocking Your Natural Relaxation System" by Gayatri Devi, M.D. (a woman neurologist) and already have a lot to think about. We have the frontal lobes that are logical and we have our inner/primitive brain that is instinctual and it relies on the senses. Nowadays, she says, we're overdeveloping the frontal lobes which can overwhelm the body/instinctual. Our brains can't tell the difference between a work deadline or an attacking sabre tooth tiger :-) We aren't allowing our bodies to do their thing, to be "in charge" (I especially liked the example of reasoning with a child and telling/talking to them versus putting their body in a time out, in a chair facing the wall -- a body thing).

Anyway, I'm going to be working on letting my body/senses do their thing and not letting my head get in the way so much. I think that will help with both motivation and actual practice (versus just recording and then getting depressed that we lose interest and don't record anymore).

    The back ache could be the tenseness associated with guilt often felt when someone decides they simply HAVE to do this or that, and the self chastizement that follows not carrying the task thru. I also could be natural achiness from additional exercise. If you don't feel motivated to do journaling or tracking then maybe some information about motivation may help. They have a whole section on Motivational articles on site. Go for it! The more you know the greater your motivation will be! emoticon
