Wow, that video was pretty amazing, and unfortunately, truthful. Our self image is very distorted and critical. I applaud Dove for stepping outside the mainstream media to help women learn to realize how they feel about themselves, and how beautiful they really are. Did you notice how they described their faces as fat, protruding chin, big jaw . . .? Here's an interesting question for you:
The diet industry (diet foods, diet programs, diet drugs, etc.) takes in about $40 billion each year and continues to grow. The media shows and tells us in every way it can that we're "too fat", ugly, not good enough . . .
Do you think perhaps there's a correlation here that we're not aware of?

The old woman in the wheel chair is one of my favorite pictures. It reminds me of my mom.

Oops, I must have a pretty big ego. When I see pics of myself I sometimes wonder who the old lady is and then I realize it's me.

Kudos to Dove for their newest campaign.

I saw that on the news and thought it's so true. We do see ourselves in a more negative light than others do.

I really like this so much and agree completely. My favorite pic in this is the little old lady in the wheelchair who sees a ballerina! Thanks for sharing this.

I saw the DOVE video on facebook and had to share it. It's really insightful. I have NO idea how I would describe myself in that situation, but I'm glad other brave people participated.

Great Blog! I have seen similar youtubes about Dove's ad campaign. I have even used them in a classroom when speaking about advertising. Your point is well made and so very true. Working on that self image can make all the difference in the world. We reflect and carry ourselves differently when we think positively about ourselves. I know this intellectually but need to work intensely on this aspect of me.

Thanks for the wonderful reminder!
