Thought and Prayer for Thursday, April 18, 2013

If we think about how much time we wait on something or someone every day, we will find that most of our time is spent on waiting. There is a reason we have to wait on things. Sometimes the other person isn’t ready. Sometimes what we need isn’t ready. But all the time, God isn’t ready. He has a timeline for us and for those who are our friends. Others shouldn’t always be the blame when we have to wait. It may not really be their fault. It could be a part of God’s total plan. God has a purpose for our waiting and we should be a patient friend while we are waiting.

Ephesians 4:2 “Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, help us to be patient when we have to wait. When we show patience to our friends rather than getting upset with them, they will see Your love in us. When You help us to be humble and gentle when we really want to blow up and get mad, we know You are strengthening us to be better friends. We know we all have faults but help us not to blame others but instead encourage them as You tell us to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

A reason to be patient is because we don’t always know the whole situation.

We can show others patience in all situations with God’s help.

Knowing that we are to be humble and gentle in all things will help us to know how to handle the most difficult situations.

God wants us to be patient with each other knowing that no one is perfect. Then they will see God’s love in us.

We all have faults so we really shouldn’t be so hard on others when they mess up. Patience is a virtue.

Galatians 5:22-23 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (NLT)
