I have a love/hate relationship with running.

Thursday, April 18, 2013

It would seem like I love to workout, but in reality I can't say that I do. Don't get me wrong I like to exercise, but that would include power walking, horseback riding, mowing the lawn, playing sports, etc. Workingout is another story.

I'm still on my "Insanity high" and I'm proud of myself for completing such an intense program. However, to say I love extreme exercise would be a lie. I don't really like running because I hate the lactic acid build up and the gasping for air. (Hum, I had the same problem with Insanity!) emoticon

What I do love is how I feel when I STOP! I love my muscles being a little sore proving to me that I pushed hard and made my body work. I love how I look when I put on my favorite jeans. I love how people react when they haven't seen me for a while. I love that I feel good in my own skin.

Sooo, I'm going to give running a try. I want to do the Oklahoma Marathon next year with my cousins. Will I run a full marathon, heck NO! I will do the 5K, at least and maybe the 10K. I will start the first month of Insanity again. The first month is more manageable time wise and physically. I want to keep the body I have now and maybe even improve on it! emoticon

I agree. I do not like working out, but I like the results. I am glad the weather finally broke so we can all get out and get some outdoor exercising done! Running is not for me, but I have many things I could be doing to burn off those pounds. Good luck on the running!

A family member in Waverly challenged me to do this with her. Luckily, I'm doing my first Triathlon here in Tarpon Springs at the same time!
    Just sayin'

You can do whatever you put your mind to and I know it will be a challenging but rewarding experience. You know what you've been capable of up to now but did you ever think that you could complete the Insanity workout? Don't see yourself short!

I say good for you to try it. Funny, it's not for me...I don't like it for the same reasons you don't. Hopefully you will enjoy it this time around and get that runners high!

Sounds like your position on exercise is very much like mine :) I do like running from time to time though I discovered once I got started at it. I enjoy doing the fund raiser 5Ks for local charities.

I have found running to be easier and more motivating with good music. I literally hear the music in my head as I wake up in the morning - it gets me out the door to do it. Of I don't run one day I miss it. I guess that's the way you are with Insanity! I can see you getting that way with running next.

After insanity, I know you could rock a 5k or 10 k. I am much more of a power walker, but I try to love running. I'm with you, it's hard to love running, but it's great endurance training and a really good feeling when it's all done. Good luck on your insanity and training!

I'm with you. I've worked very hard to build up my running endurance, still working on it. When I first start out, I think "what is the matter with me, I hate this" When I'm done, it is such a rush!

I'm only working on 5Ks right now. We'll see if I get up the energy to work towards a 10K someday.

Good luck to ya! Way to rock the insanity!
