Well, I leave tomorrow for a business trip to Branson, Mo.. I've prepared some food that I'll be taking in a cooler (just in case)... I've called ahead to a CrossFit gym (called a "box") and made arrangements to workout on Friday (my regularly scheduled workout). My coach has provided a workout to perform... I'm hoping to be able to carve out some time on Saturday to hike and explore the area... that will be my "applying my fitness to fun". Hope the weather's nice. I feel like I've planned for my success. So, given any unanticipated hiccups, all should be well.
My workout tonight got cut short due to Tornado Warnings... but regardless.. my perceived exertion seemed very high even though the Met Con (metabolic conditioning) portion of the workout was only 10 minutes, I spent the 5th longest time in zone 5 (HR 148-165). Interesting.
I lost another pound (33lbs in all) ! Yeah! People are really noticing and I find myself being such a zealot for the Paleo way of eating and CrossFit. People are always asking me about my workouts and to explain CrossFit. The only way I know to describe CrossFit is that it's like the "last chance workout" from the Biggest Loser... at least the intensity is the same. The thing I think is cool is that - yes, I'm sweating and huffing and puffing and completely zapped when I complete a workout. But you know what? So are the very fit people at the gym! I feel a certain comraderie with them - because although our fitness levels are all different, the intensity is the same.. the effort, the same.. I like that. I also like that everyone encourages everyone else to do THEIR best - claps, yells encouraging things - It's cool. Tonight was my 20th workout and I'm completely hooked. I love pushing myself.. I love the surprise of how strong I'm getting... I love the SWEAT!... You know how it is when you get excited about something.. you just want everyone to experience the same thing.. well, that's me right now.
Here's the workout stats:
