Just a wee bit crazed...

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

Yes, I ran today. Despite my blisters. Not very long, but I ignored the blisters as best I could, and got in 1.7 miles in 18 minutes on the treadmill at the gym. It wasn't the running that hurt, it was the warm up and cool down walks that hurt. I guess it is a different foot strike for running as opposed to walking. That said, I plan to go run again tomorrow. For today, since my run was so short I decided to put in the same amount of time on the elliptical before doing a little ST. I crank up the resistance on the elliptical and keep the speed up as well, so even though my SP tracker says I only burned 148 calories the machine said I burned over 200 calories. I think the machine was more accurate this time. I didn't have my heart rate monitor on so I can't say for certain.

Cooper got a long walk this morning, plus the short walk to and from the groomer's. And I will take him out for an hour this evening. He was so happy to go to the groomer's. He is a white dog once again. Who knew? They said he was pretty dirty. I guess it is from all that rolling in the grass he has been doing since the snow melted. He also got his nails trimmed, though they said his weren't bad since I walk him a lot.

I was bad with food today. Subway for lunch, and McDonald's for dinner. I probably won't go over for the day, but the fat and sodium? oh my! I will make certain I eat at home for all my meals tomorrow. I hadn't had a meal from McDonald's in about a year. I have to say it tasted way too salty, and my stomach isn't real happy with me now. My memory of their food was better than reality.

I don't like McDonald's anymore. And most fast food upsets my stomach if I eat out more than one meal in a week.

Subway and Mac's both on the same day! That is rare for you. Take it easy with the blister. Hope it heals fast.

We don't stop at McDonalds anymore, not even on the long road trips. Nobody in the family wants it LOL

Might be time for new running shoes. Blisters are my feet's way of telling me that the shoes are done.

after that amazing walk your feet are bound to hurt- you learn something new everyday- today's lesson is that you have outgrown McDonalds- you long for the healthy foods now, and even though fast food is convenient at times- the re-educated body protests to remind us it is an exception not the rule.. Your fitness variety and dedication inspire me everyday. Keep moving gently as you recover this week

It is amazing how your tastes do change as you get used to eating healthier. This is definitely a good thing.

Well done with your fitness! If the warm up and cool down bother you on the treadmill, why don't you do them on the elliptical instead? My elliptical is my warm up for all my exercise videos. Really helps because you use your arms too, a full body warm up!
Sorry about the fast food break. I don't mind Subway, but can't imagine liking McDonald's stuff.
If you are getting blisters, best look at what kind of socks you are wearing and/or if your shoes are a good fit, a running store can outfit you properly..
    Have a totally terrific Thursday!

I don't know if you did today but maybe tomorrow you may want to try to bandage up your blisters so there isn't so much rubbing and friction on them. Other than that it sounds like you had a pretty good day. And I think McDonalds tasting nasty to you is probably a good thing. That means you have been eating healthier. Keep up the good work, you are awesome!!!

My husband and I were just saying how LONG it had been since we've had a Whopper...I bet we would be disappointed.

We were traveling in February and stopped at Mickey D's during a snow storm (mostly to wait it out) and ended up getting some burgers and fries. It was disappointing too. I guess our tastes have changed, right??

Sounds like you had a good day. I was never a big McDonald's fan, but once in awhile I would like to have the fries. Lucky Cooper had his spa day!

I'm like that with restaurants and some processed foods. The memory is much better than the present time. I'm wondering if the same will be true for 3 of my favorite recipes which I haven't made in a long while.
