Cold Snap II

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

I think this second cold snap has killed any daffodils I had left in the yard. We don't get a lot of spring color here, and I'll miss having that splash of yellow by the bird bath this year. I planted a hyacinth there, too, but for some reason it has gotten smaller each year. I haven't pulled the grass back from around it to see if it's surviving. I hope it has just because it's nice to know it's still there, but since I can't see it unless I look for it, I doubt I'll miss it if it's gone. At least this time the cold weather came with snow, so the daffodils were lost for naught.

My daffodils survived earlier snows. My red tulips are amazingly beautiful, and now they're predicting severe westher for tonight. Winds will probably relieve the tulips of their petals. The hosta are beginning to emerge, revealing a need to separate and move bulbs. I have much work to do in the yard, but I also need warmer weather to do it.
