Morning Walks

Today was the third day this week that I got to work early enough to walk a mile around our indoor track at the top of the gym--I keep asking myself why in the world have I not made this a habit before now?? It's so easy and peaceful. I don't even plug in my mp3 player...The gym is only semi-lit, and when it's raining--like it is today, I can listen to the rain on the roof. I can also hear the students out in the cafeteria getting ready for the school day. It really has been starting my days off on the right foot. Another benefit that I'm noticing is that I'm nice and warm when I get to my desk in the library--when I am usually freezing most of the day :)

One thing I would like to change about this habit is that I'd like to get up just a little earlier, so that maybe I'd have time to get 2 miles in--something to work toward.

    I LOVE exercising in the morning - it starts my day on just the right note!! I'm retired now, but when I was working it seemed that if I could control that one thing I was more likely to be able to control the rest of my day!

    Great new habit! I'm sure you could gradually build up to the earlier waking. It's nice that you are noticing the improvement for the rest of your day too!

    I am just not a morning person, unless I am not sleeping well for some reason, I may be up early.

I think this sounds like a wonderful way to start your day. I do wish I could do it, but I can look at lunch, and nights are when I always do my fitness.

    I love walking in the mornings also but in the forest with the dogs.. that's the upside of being retired..

Good for you for trying to work this into your routine.. the peacefulness and warmth is a great reason to continue on!!

    I do this too. We have a large gym/auditorium at work. I love going in there first thing in the morning when it's dimly lit. I walk eight laps one way then eight laps in the opposite direction. It's very peaceful.

I also do 15 minutes either after lunch of at the end if the day.

I do my best thinking in there!
