I have an ad blocker on my browser, I don't see any of the ads of Spark People that way.

Yeah, my friend has an internet site and they have no real control over what will pop up until after it has popped up, otherwise I'm sure that Sparkpeople would have blocked them first. Just do the screen shot thing. xoxo

This has been a major complaint of mine for years and I am leaving SP soon. I feel they will accept anyone as an advertiser. Anyone. I've been offended by drugs that have very dangerous side effects (I don't watch TV or read mags either, so I don't support these ads), sugary products, diet plans/products, men's magazines (objectifying women when most of their members are women), etc. The only thing I will miss when I leave SP are friends.

    I was upset too.

That ad is nuts. I wish you had put a link in your blog to the topic in the Cafe. That would make it a lot easier to find it.

I agree that some of their ads are just inappropriate to what SP is all about. Topic threads may help us express our feelings on the matter but what 1STATEOFDENIAL suggested to you is really the proper way to handle it. It is unfortunate when it happens but they don't know what ads will pop up and they do need sponsors to keep the site free for us. Some of the ads that pop up when you run your cursor past it are very annoying as they interfere with nutrition tracking and articles being read. So I hope you will take the time to let SP know and get that ad out of here. emoticon

Actually, all you have to do is take a screen grab of the page with the ad and email it to: with a short sentence about why you feel the ad is inappropriate for the website. Every time I've emailed them one (I've sent them multiple emails) they block that ad from showing within a day or two.

They have a service that puts the ads on the website and they don't monitor them specifically. But if people bring inappropriate ads (like 2 years ago when there was adult 'toy' ads showing up) to their attention they will block them.

Im sick and tired of all of the hidden preservatives, food colorings, sugars etc. they put in Foods today too. So I know what you mean. I wish they would outlaw all of these added things. But they won't. God Blessings to Everyone. Have a Great Day. Take Care. Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
