broccoli for breakfast

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

I want to eat simple, fresh foods as close to their natural state as possible. I've been saying this for months. I've read all the books and agree it's the healthiest way.

To put my money where my mouth is, I have made broccoli for breakfast. So healthy right? Gag. It's staring at me on the plate and I can barely eat it.

There are ways of cooking broccoli so that they are palatable, but here in lies the problem with eating all these healthy vegetables five times a day. I can't cook all the time, all day. But I also can't eat these plain broccoli. Not even with some salt, or pepper. Maybe some Nutella? Defeats the purpose of 'all-natural' right?

Bleh. You better incorporate that in an omelette! Otherwise, bleh.

hah. I've never tried broccoli for breakfast -- maybe if it were chopped up a bit and added to a scrambed egg. I try to stick with fruits at my morning meal because they are just easier and less hassle when I'm trying to get ready for work. Good for you for trying it though!

I love veggies of all kinds, but I've never been able to eat them for breakfast, unless they are mixed in with a quiche or omelet.

I agree with Successin2013, lightly cooked will do the trick, maybe with some egg whites? Good luck girl!

Ugh, I do not like broccoli very much, and cauliflower even less. I force myself to eat it cooked sometimes. I like it better raw in ranch dressing. But otherwise. Blech.

A good way to eat broccoli is to grind it all up and put it in a quiche. With egg and lots of cheese. Hehehe

Maybe lightly cooked, and added to scrambled eggs or an omelet...

But I hear you on not wanting to cook all the time.
My new routine is the Green Smoothie for breakfast, lunch is just 4 cups of leaves and 3 ounces of salmon (I cook it all when I get it, then baggie it up in the freezer in little 3 ounce servings, then I can just grab one. They thaw out by lunch). Dinner, I cook. Then bedtime snack, blue smoothie. Nothing takes more than about 5 minutes except dinner.

I'm wanting to replace dinner too =)
