Well, this past weekend was mixed with a bit of anxiety and then fun.
My husband and I left out early Saturday morning at 1am and then got in to Brooklyn at 4:30am to our son's. This was our first visit ever to his area-Brooklyn or to the NYC area-ever. We do not like drivng in larger city areas and so we drove it early am on the weekend. My husband won't drive it, period and I get anxiety from it.
We checked out map quest for the route and exit, etc.. the final exit to get off of 278 it said was exit 33. Well, when we got there -there was no exit 33-just 34 and then 32B and not to the street for 33. Ended up having to make a quick decision and taking exit 32B. Well, we drove around lost for around 15 minutes in the early morning hours and then finally ran across a familiar street from the map-Humboldt-which only goes one way so you can't take the wrong way on it. We took it to Grand and then a left and then to bushwick-made a right and we were there-a couple blocks from our son. We found his place and parked. Whew!!! No more map quest!!!

Woke up our son so that he could buzz us in to his building. He showed us to our room and we all went to sleep for a few hours. Then up and he and his wife and a couple friends and us went to Brunch at Harefields Pub. Popular place-busy and we had to wait for our table. Worth the wait, though. I picked out a turkey club sandwich. I ate the insides-except for the lettuce. Can't have the bread and lettuce.
Then we walked back to their place-about 6 blocks. We got back and took more pictures. Then my husband and I laid down to sleep until 7pm (we were leaving out at 1am Sunday morning to go back home) When we got up our son had just finished grilling some salmon-which we had to eat. Then we relaxed and played a board game with them. Fun. More pictures taken.
We left out at 1am-easier to find our way out and up to the freeway then coming there.
So, the moral is-do not trust map quest.

I usually try googlemaps + mapquest and
www.aaa.com/AAA_Travel/AAAMaps/
aaa_map.htm

Then I sort of know what might happen. We have even used a GPS, and that sometimes does not work any better.
But glad you made the trip and had a good visit.
