On the Saturday before Patriot's Day forty-seven years ago, my DH and I exchanged vows before GOD, family and friends. Now on this day we are in a mixture of remembrance of our anniversary and deep sadness over the events in Boston.
We went to a Japanese-Chinese Restaurant to have sushi and spicy cashew shrimp. It was all very delicious with miso soup and a house salad, too. Our breakfast was light (fruit and tea) in anticipation of a large repast later. On our wedding day the meal had been tea sandwiches and veggies, so we thought the raw tuna, shrimp and salmon fitting along with greens, cuke and tomato slices. Our celebratory dessert is our supper of Greek yogurt and fruit.
A few years ago our DIL ran the Marathon with two of our granddaughters joining her the final six miles. Had they run this year, they would have finished about the time of the explosions yesterday. Our neighbor also ran last year and would have this year except that she is expecting their first child momentarily. Hearts are really heavy thinking of all the runners, families and friends involved in this dreadful loss. Many many who are getting healthier work out to eventually run in this race.
Tonight there was a community service just up in the center of town with times of meditation and prayer, scripture and silences. Yet another tragedy has sliced through our consciousness reminding us of how fragile life is.
May GOD grant grace and peace for each one suffering and grieving.
