Here's a thought for you. When it's time for bed, you turn out the lights and off you go to dreamland without a second thought that it's dark. But let the power go out and it's a differnt story. You just can't sleep. Is it because you know that if you need too, you can't turn on the lights?
Last night was REALLY windy here. So windy it was shaking the house, rattling the windows, and trying to blow the doors open. I heard some clunking sounds out front (about 10:20 PM) when it would gust really hard, so I decided to look out the front window. You know...as if I could see anything outside anyway. Just as I pulled open the shades...CLICK...all the lights went out. Not just at our house..the whole neighborhood went dark. Uh oh! I had that OMG..what are we going to do now? moment.
So I made a beeline for my cell phone, which I had set down and couldn't see in the dark. The only light was coming from the screen on my tablet. So I used that to find my cell, then used the handy dandy flashlight app I have it to move around. I immediately went into the bedroom and woke up hubby (like he can fix it!). He just kind of grunted and rolled over on his back.
I wandered around the house, cell flashlight in hand, until it dawned on me that the app was draining my phone fast. So I went to find a real flashlight (which wasn't as bright as my app one). We still had internet (UPS on the router) , so I was able to look up NV Energy, call them to report the outage only to be told (by a nice lady in a recording) that they knew about it already and had no timeline for fixing it. What else was there to do? I dug out the small travel alarm clock, set it for 6:30 Am this morning (just in case the power didn't come back on) and went to bed.
Again..it's differnt when you CAN'T turn on the lights. Almost as if the dark is darker. Silly I know...
Power was back on when we woke up this morning. But it's still windy here and I missed Hawaii 50 last night. Well..most of it.
I did, however, get to see the 2 hr premier of Defiance on SyFy last night. And I think it was excellent! True sci fi from the people that have blurred the meaning of science fiction (I'm talking the SyFy network...come on guys...WWE is NOT sci fi!) I'll be watching it from now on. This show is one of the first, if not THE first, to incorporate a game version too. So you can buy the MMO (massive multiplayer online) game. What's unique about it is that the TV people will be using stuff that the game players do in the TV show. It's new concept for both genres. I thought about playing the game but it costs like $60 bucks for online or gaming system. I just can't see spending that. At least not right now.
Eating was OK last night. I made Shoyu chicken with some shredded hashbrowns (hubby is eating that instead of white rice, fewer sugars), green beans w/bacon bits in it, and I had a Skinny Cow ice cream bar for dessert. I was right at the upper end of my calorie range at the end of the night. But NOT over!
Since it's still windy and chilly here today (if you can really call 63 chilly), I'm thinking of making chili for dinner tonight.
OK..that will be it for me. Everyone have a great rest of Tues..and we're only3 days away from the weekend!
