This is the beginning of my new life. Rather than just journal, I want to put it here because I spend time on SP and there is no sense in carving out two separate times to document my journey.
I have been overweight since my early 20s. I have finally decided to change for good and adopt a new lifestyle. I'm not trying to get skinny and be in the movies or anything, I just want to be closer to a normal weight, not worry about my blood pressure and not be the fattest parent at my daughter's college graduation this December! LOL.
The steps I have taken are (1) join the UAMS weight loss program that uses HealthOne Meal Replacements and offers a dietitian for the full 16 week program. We go to class once each week with our dietitian and learn about why we are this way, steps to change and we support others in our group all going through it together. (2) join SparkPeople to help me track my daily progress. I have found that I suck at counting steps which led me to (3) buy a good pedometer! Of all the crazy things to be excited about, I am excited about a pedometer! I think its because I am a bit of a nerd and I like data - accurate data. I am afterall the database administrator for my organization. (Big cheesy smile!)
This is my beginning. I started at 232 lbs and as of last Thursday I am 223 lbs. I am feeling good, a little more confident and am looking forward to the journey!
