Good Morning Sparkpeople!
Still working on that consistency thing....
Yesterday was an improvement. I need to be honest with myself, though. I NEED TO GET MY EATING UNDER CONTROL! It's not nearly as much of an issue as it was when I first joined Spark. Back then I REALLY needed to get my eating under control!
My weaknesses used to be bags of buffalo flavored pretzels, pints of Ben & Jerry's, fast food and donuts. Now, my go-to comfort foods are Ben & Jerry's Greek yogurt, hummus by the mountain-full, melons and pineapple, and guacamole. So the choices have gotten better, it's the portions I need to get a grip on. Also, my water. When I consume the right amount of water for me, I feel satisfied and get fuller quicker. I think I may be trying to quench my thirst with food.
I spent the evening following my 5 year old on her bike up and down the road we live on. She's still learning and needs someone with her at all times. It felt good to be MOVING. I need to be active throughout the day...every day. I also want to make sure the kids keep up with an active lifestyle. It can be easy for them to get sucked into the tv and video games. It's important to me that they witness the hubs and I being active and making good choices about our bodies. I read on Spark yesterday that by the age of 6, something like 78% of girls are worrying about their bodies.....what?! I thought about that all day, then remembered that I, at age 9, started dieting. I was an average, healthy kid, too. But I compared myself to the girls in my class, the "girls" in Seventeen magazine and the girls on tv. I figure, if I keep the kids MOVING, they won't be bombarded with the media's distorted messages about what is beautiful, plus they will be keeping their bodies healthy because they are getting exercise! It means a lot more playing on my part, but it can only mean good tings for us all. I hope all my Sparkfriends find some time to play this week!
Aside from making efforts to banish couch potato disease from my house by limiting screen-time and focusing more on play time, I am going to continue to focus on being consistent with tracking and portion-control.
My Goals for this week are:
1. drink at least 8 glasses of water daily
2. stay within calorie range....TRACK!
3. Body Combat M-W, Run/strength train Tues/Thurs/Sun.
4. Spend time DAILY doin' me.....reading, yoga, prayer, writing, etc. Whatever! Spend time on me!
5. At least one active family activity
