Why I joined Sparkpeople

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

I'm needtobefitmama. I am 22 years old and suffering obesity. I have been fighting with my weight for a few years. In high school it was easier because I had friends to get me out and moving but after high school is when things changed. First the college I wanted to go to wouldn't take me due to a few issues. Then I tried going to another college but before I could go I ended up pregnant with my first child. I was 18; by the end of the year I was completely depressed. the guy I was with was a jerk, the fact that I was a young mother and the fact that I wanted a different life just made it easy to be lazy, sleep excessively, and eat a lot of comfort foods to make me 'feel better'. Then I was trying to lose weight and be healthy when I ended up in another cycle jobless, ending bad in a relationship, and pregnant once again. 5 years I've just been packing on the pounds and now I'm 279 pounds with a BMI of 45. It makes me even more depressed because I want to get out and be active and be healthy but I have no motivation. I know I'm young and have a lot to make me happy (mostly my babies) but for some odd reason it isn't enough to make me want to change my life. I realized I was depressed because I sleep excessively like before, I overeat in comfort foods and I spend my time doing nothing and hardly playing with my girls because I have no energy. I know exercise will help and give me energy but I've been lacking motivation to do it. Then I was watching a show called 'My 600 lb life.' and realized I am half way there and after a good cry I decided I need to lose weight or I will end up there and I may end up losing my girls because I wont be able to be fit to take care of them in the literal sense and the other. So here I am on Sparkpeople.com determined to lose this weight so I can become a better mother and be a sexy healthy mama (who wouldn't want to be that? lol)

Thank you so very much for telling us your story and opening up your heart to us. That is the first step to emotional health and the physical health will follow! If you can admit that you have a problem (like most of us on SP) you are halfway there!
For me, personally, Jesus is the answer to every problem I have and even with my problem with food, He is helping me every day of my journey. I pray that your journey with SP will be the answer that you need and if you would like to chat further, feel free to add me as a friend and send me a message!
God bless!
